Use augmented reality offline with the Visuality Android app
In short
Offline mode lets you present your 3D objects in augmented reality without a network, for example at a trade show or in a workshop. It only works in the Visuality Android app: open each object or group once with a connection, and it then remains available offline for 30 days.
Prerequisites
- An Android 8.0 or later smartphone or tablet, with the Visuality app installed.
- The PIN code or direct link of the object or group you want to present.
- An Internet connection during preparation, before you travel.
Steps: prepare a demo without a network
- In the 3D Object Library, open View / Share on the object. The Applicative Viewer (Android) section contains the app download link, the direct link and the PIN code.
- To take a whole selection with you, bring the objects together in a group: a single PIN code is then enough.
- With a connection, launch the app and enter the PIN code (or open the direct link): the object or group is loaded onto the device.
- Check the result by switching the device to airplane mode, then entering the same PIN code again.
- Before each event, reopen your objects with a connection to get your latest changes and start a new 30-day period.
Good to know and limitations
- Offline mode is specific to the Android app: the web viewer (link, QR code, iframe) and augmented reality on iPhone require a connection.
- An object remains available offline if it has been opened in the app at least once within the last 30 days.
- Changes made in Visuality (new file, size, objects added to a group) only appear after the object is opened again with a connection.
- Models are stored on the device: make sure you have free space if you take many large objects with you.
Frequently asked questions
No. Offline mode relies on the Visuality app, which is only available on Android. On iPhone and iPad, augmented reality runs through the web viewer and AR Quick Look, which need a connection to load the object.
It stays available offline as long as it has been opened in the app within the last 30 days. Simply reopen your objects or groups with a connection before each event to extend this period.
Only if the device has reopened the object with a connection after your changes. Without a network, the app shows the last version it loaded: remember to update it before you leave.
